Running the London Marathon 2026 for Herts MS Therapy Centre

In 2026, six of our supporters are taking on the London Marathon to raise funds for The Hertfordshire Multiple Sclerosis Therapy Centre.

Every mile run helps fund Oxygen Therapy. This involves the delivery of pure oxygen under gentle pressure.

It’s a specialist therapy that makes a real difference to quality of life by managing the symptoms that typically accompany long-term and neurological conditions. Examples include pain, fatigue and brain fog.  Oxygen Therapy can also help your body to fight infection and inflammation.

Why Run For HMSTC?

For many of our runners, HMSTC is a local charity close to their hearts.

They’re running for one simple reason: to help people living with long-term neurological and chronic conditions access practical, life-enhancing support.

Our Centre helps people living with a wide range of neurological, chronic and post-viral conditions. Clients tell us that coming to our Letchworth Centre for Oxygen Therapy helps them to:

  • manage their symptoms,
  • progress their recovery, and
  • maintain independence.

For many, this support isn’t available elsewhere or can’t be reached through standard healthcare routes. Fundraising like this helps keep Oxygen Therapy accessible.

Angelica – Long Distance with a Purpose

Angelica is no stranger to endurance running, but this marathon carries extra meaning.

Her decision to run for Herts MS Therapy Centre is driven by a belief in the importance of accessible, ongoing support for people living with long-term conditions. Through training and fundraising, Angelica hopes to raise awareness as well as vital funds to support the centre’s work.

Becky Yates is running London Marathon 2026 as part of Team HMSTC

Becky – ready for a runaway success

Everything’s running smoothly for long-distance runner Becky Yates. Becky’s a 44 year-old self-employed holistic, beauty and sports massage therapist from Worthing.

Becky’s certainly prepared well for this year’s London Marathon. In January she competed in the Red Robin Marathon in Horsham. “I felt good and didn’t feel pressured. I ran the first half with a friend and the rest on my own clocking a time of 4 hours, 29 minutes.

“I ran for my dad Robin who passed away in 2020, so it was an emotional experience for me.”

As well as her job Becky works one day a week at The Sand Project, an Independent Educational Organisation giving opportunities to 16-25 year olds with special educational needs.

Becky is also kept busy running for the Worthing Striders, a local club she joined 18 months ago. She’s also an avid traveller.

How Your Support Helps

Do you know someone who:

  • Would you like more energy?
  • Is living with pain or fatigue?
  • Is struggling with brain fog or slow recovery?

Many people who come to HMSTC answer “yes” to some or all of these questions. Through your support, our Centre is able to continue providing access to Oxygen Therapy.

Oxygen Therapy is also used by professional athletes to support recovery, including well-known footballers such as Cristiano Ronaldo and Thiago Silva, highlighting its role in recovery and wellbeing.

Oxygen Therapy at the Centre

Oxygen Therapy involves breathing pure oxygen through a mask in a specially designed chamber under gentle pressure. Sessions take place in a calm, supportive environment and are fully supervised by trained staff.

Many people report benefits such as:

  • Improved energy levels

  • Reduced pain and discomfort

  • Clearer thinking and concentration

  • Faster healing and recovery

  • Reduced swelling and inflammation

The therapy is used to support people living with conditions including Multiple Sclerosis (MS), Fibromyalgia, CFS / ME, Cancer, Diabetes, inflammatory conditions such as Arthritis, and those with slow-healing wounds or ulcers. Support is always provided alongside existing care, with suitability discussed individually.

The Oxygen Chamber is large enough to seat up to seven people, with every session supervised by two fully trained Oxygen Operators. For first-time sessions, a member of the team is inside the chamber to offer reassurance and support.

Your donations help keep this service accessible, safe, and available to people who rely on it to manage their condition and improve their quality of life.
