Meet Mr Google
If Carl Lane had a nickname it would probably be Mr Google.
Carl, 31, is a digital marketer, originally from Stevenage and more recently Doncaster.
He knows more than most about Herts MS Therapy Centre as he has been working with us for several years.
“I run their Google Ads platform as well as working on some other marketing projects,” he explained. Now he will be running and raising money for the charity when he takes part in the 2026 London Marathon.
As well as running the Google ads platform Carl is a keen runner as he explains: “Up until our recent move north I was a regular runner for the Stotfold Runners, a club I was a huge part of and still return to for various runs and events. I will certainly be calling in on them as part of my training plan.”
Although Carl has not yet run the 26.2 miles it takes to complete a marathon he’s run a half-marathon and this summer participated in a team triathlon in London.
But why Doncaster? “My fiancée, Fern, is an NHS doctor and recently obtained a job in the Yorkshire area. I’m self-employed and run my business carllane.digital from home. I basically work with the small business sector to improve their lead generation on Google.”
Carl’s family mainly live in Stevenage as he explains: “My mum Kaye, dad Steve, my brothers and nephew are in Stevenage but my grandparents Irene and Terry live in Enfield, north London.
Carl’s a keen football fan but confesses he probably won’t be watching Doncaster play. “No, I’m like my dad, a Tottenham Hotspur fan!”
One of Carl’s relations has fibromyalgia and has benefited from oxygen therapy treatment at our Centre.
