Angelica’s Long Distance Run
Angelica Stephenson has travelled over 10,000 miles to run and raise money for Hertfordshire MS Therapy Centre in the 2026 London Marathon.
Angelica, originally from Sydney, Australia, moved to the UK a decade ago with her husband Andrew. “We thought relocating was sensible as we thought it would make it easier to see the world.”
A product partnerships manager at Sky TV , Angelica also teaches Pilates. “In addition I also teach at the Pilates Lab in Epsom, where we live,” she explained.
Forty-year-old Angelica runs for the local Epsom Oddballs Run Club and completed the Madrid Marathon in 2025. “I was on track for a 5-hour finish but halfway through I felt a stabbing pain at the back of my knee. It persisted until just before the finish line when it suddenly disappeared. Thankfully I haven’t felt any pain since.”
Angelica ran her first half marathon in 2020 and shortly after crossing the finishing line she found it particularly painful to walk. “I remember saying to myself that I wouldn’t attempt one again.”
Fast-forward a few years to December 2024 and many training runs later she has run half marathons every month since. “I intend to keep this going,” she said.
Angelica finds that regular high-intensity interval training (HIIT) is beneficial. “It involves alternate short periods of intense anaerobic exercise with brief recovery periods.”
Angelica won’t be alone on next Sunday April 26, London Marathon day as Andrew will also be running, representing Epsom Oddballs.
“I started running three years ago and both Andrew and myself enjoy it and we often run together. It has taught me the value of connection and mental resilience. I’m really looking forward to supporting Herts MS Therapy Centre and the work they do.”
When not pounding the pavement the couple love travelling, especially to European cities. “We have visited over 60 locations worldwide and, as big Parkrun fans, try to take part in as many as we can,” Angelica says. The couple also enjoy good food, whether cooking or visiting London restaurants.
Angelica’s parents Maryanne and Rolando are still in Sydney and dad is a keen cricket fan, often visiting Sydney Cricket Ground. “Luckily Dad keeps me up-to-date by sending me regular match reports,” Angelica explained.
