Why Chris Was Born To Run
Being a big Bruce Springsteen fan surely means Chris Herbert is born to run the 2026 London Marathon on Sunday April 26. Chris has seen ‘The Boss’ perform in Colorado, Cardiff, Munich and twice at Wembley.
“The Colorado concert in 2005 was the first time I experienced his legendary stage show, which can last for between three and a half and four hours. Every gig I’ve seen with Bruce and the E-Street Band has been an absolute joy,” Chris explained.
Chris, who has been married for four years to his wife Laura, is a big football fan and supports Bradford City. “I try and see them ‘live’ as much as I can.”
The Wheathampstead-based schoolteacher, at nearby Sir John Lawes school in Harpenden, will run and raise money for the Letchworth-based charity Herts MS Therapy Centre.
Although he has never run a marathon before, the 39 year-old plans to join a local running club. “It will help me with my training as I’ve only just moved to Wheathampstead and most of my marathon training so far has been solo.
“Training is going well at the moment and I’m looking forward to taking part and raising money for such a good cause.” Chris explained. “I’ve already run three half marathons in London, Cambridge and Berlin.
“Although I don’t have a direct connection with the charity I have friends and colleagues affected by MS and I’ve taken the time to learn about the Centre’s work. I can now see how its therapies and support can make a meaningful difference to people’s day-to-day lives.”
