Taylor Made to Support Charity

Family man Mike Taylor is certainly cut out to run and raise money for Herts MS Therapy Centre by running in the London Marathon 2026.

Mike, who grew up in Potters Bar and now lives in Hatfield, has been aware of multiple sclerosis since he was a child. His grandfather ‘Pop’ had MS from the age of 30 and when he passed, well into his 80s, Mike started volunteering for the charity.

“I witnessed the positive impact oxygen can have on people, observing how they were pre and post the therapy. I was astonished by the positive results.

“Pop was an inspiration to me, always positive and never negative. When I was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes when I was four I definitely grumbled but his constant positivity was, and still is, a shining light for me.” (See photo below)

Mike, 38, a technical programme manager with Tesco, is married to Gemma and they have two girls. “We have a large family and are fortunate our parents live nearby.” (See photo below)

Mike readily admits he’s not a runner: “No, I don’t enjoy it but I do like tackling tough challenges and pushing myself to do better.”

To his credit he says he likes swimming and also supporting Liverpool FC.

“I’ve also taught 1.6 million people how to spatchcock a chicken on YouTube,” he says with pride. He’s also stroked a tiger, sparred with boxer Frank Bruno and been on stage with DJ Jazzy Jeff, thankfully not at the same time!

Hertfordshire Multiple Sclerosis Therapy Centre is a Letchworth-based charity that has been providing Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy for nearly 40 years. It’s a complementary therapy that can help some people with a wide range of conditions, including MS, cancer, Parkinson’s disease, ME, fibromyalgia, Long Covid and soft tissue sports injuries.
