Keen athlete Alexandra is easy to spot when she’s out running. That’s because she will often be accompanied by her Dalmatian dog Hunter.
Alexandra, a science teacher and outdoor instructor, will be running and raising money for Herts MS Therapy Centre by running the London Marathon 2025. She lives in Waltham Abbey and is originally from Pembrokeshire in Wales and loves running and hiking in Snowdonia.
“My favourite event so far is the Snowdon SkyRace, a 40km trail/mountain race in Caernarfon. It involves a fair amount of scrambling at more than 3,000 metres! I love it and aim to do more of these events in the future.”
However at the moment Alexandra is concentrating on marathons. “I started running half-marathons in 2014 when I was at Nottingham university and entered my first marathon in Cyprus four years later. I’ve since done several more.”
Alexandra, who is married to Ryan, has had some bad luck with injuries over the years. “I had major spinal surgeries as a teenager and ended up with ‘bionic’ spine and some serious scars too.” She used to do a lot of kayaking until a shoulder injury put a stop to that. But there is a happy ending.
“I met Ryan through kayaking! He is my number one supporter and is always encouraging me. We love getting out together to take part in outdoor activities, often with Hunter. We also plan to take our cat Cwtch camping soon!”
