Just Capital! Why Tony’s Familiar with the London Marathon

Tony Baum’s London Marathon experience:

“Taking part in this year’s London Marathon was the most difficult and yet rewarding thing I have ever done. The months of training, the cold, dark evenings pounding the London pavement after work and the crisp mornings down by my local Grand Union canal.

“I believe the oxygen treatment session at the Letchworth-based charity Herts MS Therapy Centre a few days before the big run gave me a boost and helped me complete the 26.2 mile course in a time of 5 hours, 49 seconds. I was joined by three other runners, Glen and Jessica Dobson and Jason Akenbrook as well as the friendly and helpful Centre staff. I was surprised to wake up the next day feeling fresh and ready for work.”

Watford born and bred Tony is head concierge in one of London’s plushest places – Belgravia Gate, a prestigious 14-flat complex complete with all mod-cons including private kitchens, wine storage, spa and swimming pool and used nearby Hyde Park as a training base.

“I know it so well that it is the perfect place to practice as I am familiar with the surroundings. I can relax when I’m running and I’m instinctively aware of the distance I have covered by the park’s particular features and landmarks.”

Tony lives in Pimlico, near Watford, with his wife Sunyoung and two daughters Alexa, 7, Chloe, 4 and newcomer Henry the Labrador. “I met Sunyoung, who is Korean, thirteen years ago when we both worked at the Connaught.”

Tony lists his hobbies as golf, gardening and watching Watford play football.
