Runners raised a record £723 for charity at the biggest ever Santa Canta 5km run in Letchworth at the weekend.
Some 293 Father Christmases, snowmen, elves, fairies and more showed their Christmas spirit on Saturday as they completed two laps of Norton Common in support of the Letchworth-based Herts MS Therapy Centre.
Race director Richard Harbon, from organisers North Herts Road Runners, said: “What a great event. We had loads of spectators, mince pies, elves, Santas and happy smiling faces. Even better, we raised a record total for a great cause. And it gave me a great excuse to dress up as one of the Three Wise Men – definitely a first for me!”
Cathy McLaughlan from the Herts MS Therapy Centre said: “We really enjoyed the run and we were overwhelmed by all the support. Many thanks to everyone who donated and to all the runners and organisers for making this such a great event.”
The prize for best Christmas outfit went to Shani Fielding. The prize for best family dress-up was won by Spencer Bevan and his sons Kai and Leo.
