Harpenden is the latest Waitrose store to support Letchworth-based charity Herts MS Therapy Centre (HMSTC) through their Community Matters scheme. The charity, that recently received a cheque for £333, is close to the heart of the branch’s Community Matters Lead Sarah Shelbourne, pictured right.
“Both my mother-in-law Barbara and aunt Veronica had the condition, so being involved in raising money for this particular charity means a lot to me,” she said.
Waitrose stores county-wide have raised £1,000 for Letchworth-based charity Herts MS Therapy Centre (HMSTC) through their Community Matters scheme. Stores in Hitchin, Bishop’s Stortford and Rickmansworth each raised a further £333 as fundraiser Paul Bishop explains: “Big thanks to Waitrose for supporting us in these testing times. The money is vital for us to be able to continue providing our services, plus the publicity we receive in-store is equally important.”
In our photo below, Waitrose Hitchin Community Matters Champion Kyra Pennie presents the cheque to HMSTC fundraiser Paul Bishop.
At the moment the Waitrose store in Welwyn Garden City is also supporting the charity.
Our next big fundraiser is our inaugural golf day at Letchworth Golf Club on Friday 25 September.
