The Herts MS Therapy Centre helps so many because 60 volunteers are involved on a regular basis. Without each volunteer I doubt we could operate at all. Volunteers are essential for all we do. Each one plays a vital part. Maybe you would like to find out how you could be involved? We have several volunteers who have specialist responsibilities in the Centre. The two largest teams of volunteers are Operators for Oxygen Treatment therapy and staff for Reception.

We need volunteers:

  • - as part of the team that provides Oxygen Treatment (we call them Operators)
  • - as part of the Reception Team
  • - to collect outside of supermarkets occasionally
  • - to form part of our new team of fundraising people
  • - to add to the Caring Team to keep in touch with our people who are ill.

Volunteering – Helping with Oxygen Treatment

Oxygen Chamber Operators commit to a 90 min session once or twice a week. Operating and monitoring the chamber providing MS members with High dosage Oxygen. Full training is given.

Why not come in and watch a session to find out more. We run both day time and evening sessions Monday to Saturday.

A word from one of our longest serving volunteers on Oxygen Treatment:
Being a volunteer operator of the High Dosage Oxygen Chamber means folk with varying degrees of MS receive hope and often tangible benefit from the treatment. It is a rewarding occupation and over the last 22 years my wife and I have met many interesting and in spite of their problems, generally very happy people. We believe that such voluntary work is vital and worthwhile. There is a great spirit of comradeship and apart from treatment the social aspect creates a sense of belonging to a special family. To give a few hours per week or however much time one can offer is to guarantee that our people with MS will continue to have the help they need and which they cannot get elsewhere. It is a very worthy use of your spare time.

Volunteering as part of our Reception Team

We could not welcome so many visitors without the efficiency and friendliness of our Reception Staff. This team is entirely made up of volunteers. Duties include answering all incoming telephone calls, handling the appointments for therapies, welcoming people as they arrive and making the odd cup of tea for a member who is tired after, say Physiotherapy or a Massage.
