Parkinson’s is a progressive neurological condition. About 127,000 people in the UK have Parkinson’s. Most people who get Parkinson’s are aged 50 or over but younger people can get it too. (Parkinson’s UK)

The main symptoms of Parkinson’s are tremor, rigidity and slowness of movement.

As well as affecting movement, people with Parkinson’s can find that other issues, such as tiredness, pain, depression and constipation, can have an impact on their day-to-day lives. (Parkinson’s UK)

Several people with Parkinson’s attend our Centre and we also treat people at various other locations in Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire.

There are two therapies that people with Parkinson’s may find helpful:

Physiotherapy

A neurological physiotherapist leads our physio team and several of our exercise therapists have specialist neurological training. Our Physiotherapists and Personal Trainers work together to help people combat their symptoms, achieve greater mobility and reduce fatigue.

Oxygen Therapy

Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy is great for combatting extreme tiredness thanks to the energy boosts that it provides to many people. In addition it reduces pain, accelerates healing and decreases inflammation.
