A Harpenden store has raised over £500 to help the Herts MS Therapy Centre.
Every month, Waitrose donates up to £1,000 between three locals causes chosen by its shoppers, as part of its Community Matters scheme. The Herts MS Therapy Centre received an amazing £594. The charity helps people with neurological conditions such as Multiple Sclerosis, Parkinson’s and after stroke. It also offers hyperbaric oxygen therapy – this aids healing after surgery and radiotherapy plus helps combat extreme fatigue.
The Community Matters scheme enables Waitrose shoppers to support their local community. At the end of each shop, customers receive a token. They are invited to place the token in a box representing the good cause that they’d most like to support. The more tokens a cause gets, the bigger the donation they receive.
“We would like to thank the customers and staff of Waitrose Harpenden for supporting us through their Community Matters scheme,” said Patricia Saunders, Community Fundraiser for the Herts MS Therapy Centre. “Their generous donation will enable us to help even more people.”
