Diabetic Ulcers & Leg Ulcers

Do you have painful leg or foot ulcers?
Leg ulcers are horrid because they can take so very long to heal up. Diabetic foot ulcers can also lead to amputations. However, did you know that something as simple as breathing more oxygen can sometimes cure ulcers?

Oxygen Therapy may help Diabetic Ulcers and Leg Ulcers

No treatment works for everyone but oxygen has a real benefit for the majority of people with ulcers who try it. Many people find that Oxygen Therapy helps them to heal faster and feel more energised.

Dorothy B

Dorothy B suffered immense pain through leg ulcers for seven years. After just two months of receiving Oxygen Therapy, Dorothy’s leg ulcers disappeared. Her doctor gave her the ‘all clear’ and her District Nurse no longer needed to visit. (No ulcers meant that no daily dressing was required.)

Dorothy who is 83 years old said: “It’s such a joy not to have pain. I tried different treatments for my leg ulcers but they didn’t work. Instead, my leg ulcers got wider and deeper, affecting my whole life.”

Necrotising Fasciitis and Oxygen Therapy

Necrotising Fasciitis is a rare but serious bacterial infection that affects the tissue beneath the skin, and surrounding muscles and organs. People with Necrotising Fasciitis sometimes find that Oxygen Therapy helps the affected area to heal more quickly. Plus – they often feel more energised because of Oxygen Therapy.

What is Oxygen Therapy?

Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy increases the level of oxygen in your blood. Your body uses that to help accelerate the natural healing process. You breathe pure oxygen through a mask, while sitting in a gently pressurised Oxygen Chamber.  You’ll find more details on our Oxygen Therapy page.

Double benefit for people with ulcers

People with can use the oxygen mask, as Dorothy did. Or – you can place your leg into an Ulcer Sleeve, supplying oxygen direct to the outside of your ulcer.  Best of all, you can do both at the same time for maximum benefit.
